Costa Rica Ahoy!

A big sigh of relief today. After battling acute tonsillitis on and off for the last 6 weeks, I have finally received medical approval to suffer mild sore throats for a semester with the promise of a tonsillectomy upon my return. But that means COSTA RICA HERE I COME!! At last, I can be super excited for the trip I've been awaiting for quite some time. Just 6 days to pack, gather hoards of antibiotics, and rest up for the coolest semester EVER.

Banana Preparation

Costa Rica AHOY! I caved in and made a blog for the semester. Similar to Mexico, the gringos are the only people who actually want internet, so the options are slim pickin's and the bandwidth is shockingly small. Thus, I will not be able to sit all day at a computer and surf the web or vid chat--woe is me, guess I'll have to go and frolic in the mango trees. Life's tough.

Amidst my day dreams of what beautiful, nature-tastic Costa Rica will be like, I remembered there are a few people I may miss. So, if you like Frisbees, Science, Hkiss/Dtown, or being my relative, then this blog is for you.

For those who are going abroad or enjoy life lessons, here is some advice to start the semester and new year. These juicy tidbits are pulled from last summer’s journal and are meant to pay homage to my good friend Silly Claire Shambles:

1. Think before you act. Think before you speak. Really, think before you think.
2. No one honestly believes the Civil War was for purely economic issues.
3. Listen to people and the world around you when they are trying to tell you something.
4. Racism is typically socially frowned upon. So is class-ism and pretentiousness.
5. When learning a new language, speaking loud English to non-native speakers who actually understand some English is not actually learning the new language.
6. Yes, this is a dick measuring contest. And yes, you lost. My dick is enormous and speaks Spanish.
7. Be confident in yourself, it’s embarrassing not to be. (Unless you're Silly Claire, then it’s embarrassing no matter what you do.)
8. Chill out.
9. Remember to also look at tough situations from the perspective of others involved.
10. The mind is an evolving entity. Don’t let your mind fail to adapt. Self-reflection and re-evaluation are essential to keeping the mind alive.
